One of the biggest reasons the ‘Enola Holmes’ movies work so well is the chemistry between Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill. For once, we see Enola take center stage, whereas the legendary detective steps into a more supporting role.
At the same time, the movies also perfectly capture their sibling rivalry. Much like real siblings, they love each other but not necessarily like each other. As it turns out, that dynamic wasn’t just acting. Behind the scenes, Brown made it her personal mission to tease Cavill whenever she could. Naturally, her co-star had to get creative to get his revenge.
Millie Bobby Brown Loved Teasing Henry Cavill On The Set Of ‘Enola Holmes’
The playful sibling rivalry between Enola and Sherlock extended well beyond the cameras when Millie Bobby Brown found out that despite playing one of the most serious detective characters of all time, Henry Cavill was a very easy target for teasing.

“He’s an introvert, and I’m not,” she explained in an interview with ET Canada. “I just tease him on my loudness, and I just make him really uncomfortable, which is what I’m good at.”
Whether it was randomly bursting into song, talking nonstop, or trying to get Cavill interested in reality shows he had absolutely no interest in, Brown always found a new way to push him out of his comfort zone. Even then, she joked that it was only “stage one” of her plan. She added, “We haven’t even got to stage 10. It’s a process.”
That playful teasing became a huge part of their on-screen chemistry. The pair started working together when Brown was just 16. At the time, Cavill was clear on setting boundaries to keep their relationship professional. Brown described these “terms and conditions” in an interview with Deadline.
But she understood Cavill naturally had a reserved personality and didn’t shy away from bringing her own energy. “I have a sister, a brother and an older brother, so I’m very much used to that kind of dynamic,” Brown explained. “I had to implement a lot of that into my relationship with Henry offscreen and onscreen and just pull him out of his comfort zone.”
How Henry Cavill Found The Perfect Way To Get Even
Fortunately for Cavill, he found the perfect opportunity to settle the score. Speaking to the BBC, he admitted that Brown “owed some punishment for teasing me with the threat of TikTok videos.”

His chance came during one of Enola Holmes 2’s funniest scenes, where Sherlock, very drunk after a night out, leans onto Enola as she struggles to get him home. While the scene looks hilarious on screen, Brown’s efforts were far more real than audiences realized.
As Cavill describes it, “I definitely lent pretty heavily into Enola when I was being drunk Sherlock. There were certainly times where she was like, ‘There’s no way I could actually hold you up in real life,’ but it was a good time, it was good fun.”
Enola Holmes director Harry Bradbeer has also pointed out to Deadline how this constant back-and-forth is what makes their sibling relationship so genuine.
“In a way, Henry, like Sherlock, has a very rational approach but is learning more and more to have fun and to be spontaneous,” Bradbeer explained. “Millie tickles him up a little bit and surprises him. And he goes with it.”
Bradbeer also added that this dynamic comes naturally for both of them, “Henry and I both don’t have little sisters and would’ve liked to have little sisters, which probably explains our enjoyment of working with people like Millie.”
