Alfred Molina demonstrated his dedication to the role of Doc Ock by declaring that he would gladly reprise the iconic character once more for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When speaking to Variety, the actor admitted he wouldn’t turn down Marvel’s invitation to portray Doctor Octopus again. “If they came knocking on my door and said we’d love you to do it again, I would do it again, no doubt,” Molina said.

Alfred Molina first played Doctor Octopus in ‘Spider-Man 2,’ directed by Sam Raimi. The actor impressed millions of people with his portrayal of the tragic scientist.

Unlike typical comic-book villains, Molina didn’t simply make Doc Ock a one-dimensional antagonist; he brought a profound sense of tragedy to the role, driven by his failed scientific ambitions and the heartbreaking loss of his wife, Rosie, during the accident.

Alfred Molina joining the cast of Spider-Man: No Way Home turned out to be one of the movie’s biggest highlights, giving the Marvel Cinematic Universe a chance to revive one of the greatest villains ever created.

Almost seventeen years after his portrayal of Otto Octavius in Spider-Man 2, Molina returned to play the character in the Marvel multiverse movie.

Alfred Molina admitted he originally thought Doc Ock’s story ended with his sacrifice in ‘Spider-Man 2’, although former Marvel executive Avi Arad reminded him that comic-book characters never truly stay dead.

Nearly 17 years later, Molina was approached to return for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, though he initially worried he looked too old for the role. Director Jon Watts reportedly assured him that technology could fix those concerns, convincing the actor to return.

The film brought Molina together with Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield, creating a crossover event that generated enormous excitement among longtime Marvel fans.

One of the most interesting aspects of Molina’s comeback was how Marvel handled the continuity of the character. Instead of rebooting Doc Ock completely, the studio seamlessly continued his story directly from the ending of Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man 2’.
