Ever since Ariana Grande parted ways from her husband Dalton Gomez, the singer has been mired in controversies. Many have accused the pop sensation of cheating on Gomez with her now boyfriend Ethan Slater, and also wrecking Slater’s marriage and his family of three.

Though mired in all these controversies, the singer is now ready for the release of her next album ‘Eternal Sunshine’. Talking to Zach Sang ahead of the album’s release, the singer delved deep into what went into the making of the album, and what fans can expect.

Speaking about her songs, Ariana said some of them might address the “inexplicable hellish feeling [of] watching people you love misunderstand you.”

Talking more about the songwriting of the album, the Grammy winning artist said, “When I was writing it was with no intention for the world to hear it. I wrote them when I was very emotional, some of them, and then some of them are more bops.”

She then added, “I had to completely erase popstar Ari — the person they know so well — because it’s harder to believe someone as someone else because they’re so branded as one thing. I had to really go all the way to strip that down.”

She also released the tracklist for the album, that includes a song called ‘Bye’, which she revealed, is dedicated to her ex husband Dalton.

The singer revealed that she put in a song that she wrote about her split from Dalton Gomez, but it isn’t a shady breakup song.

Talking about ‘Bye’, she said, “It wasn’t like a ‘fuck you’ at all, ever… I tried to make sure it was kind and giving credit for trying, and for the goodness that there was.”

Explaining the songwriting process behind the song, Grande said, “I definitely had some sessions where I was writing more emotionally and reactively. But that’s also very human. So, I didn’t want to erase all of it. When I was writing, it was with no intention for the world to hear it. It was kind of like, let’s just go, let’s see what comes out.”

She then added, “And then when I was done, I remembered that people will hear it, and that sometimes people can sensationalise things and assign meaning to certain things, and I combed through to make sure that it was what I intended”

Revealing that there are no hard feelings between the ex couple, the ‘Yes, and?’ singer continued, “So, even at the hardest moments of the loss and the grief that you hear on the album, some of the heartbreak stuff, there was so much love and transparency. That was something I really wanted to make sure was captured.”
