After a long wait, Netflix has officially announced the release date for Millie Bobby Brown‘s ‘Damsel‘. Though it was originally slated to be released in mid-October, the movie’s release was delayed because of the Hollywood actors’ SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) strikes.
Brown was an active participant in the strike as a member of the Screen Actors Guild of America. Her movie was therefore stalled from getting released as per the previously decided schedule.
‘Damsel’ Plot And Release Date
The fantasy film directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will now be released on March 8, 2024. Penned by Dan Mazeau, the movie revolves around the character of Princess Elodie, who gets mired in a tale of duty, sacrifice, and a fire-breathing dragon.
Millie Bobby Brown plays Elodie, portrayed as a dutiful damsel agreeing to marry a prince. As the movie continues, she discovers she is being used as a sacrifice to settle an ancient debt. The lead finds herself stranded in a cave with a dragon and navigates her survival thereafter.
Netflix announced the date of the movie’s release with a poster featuring a close-up of Brown’s face and a dragon creatively placed in her left eye.
Millie Bobby Brown, a young actress, has an impressive Netflix portfolio including ‘Stranger Things‘, ‘Enola Holmes‘, and ‘Enola Holmes 2‘. ‘Damsel’ is all set to add another feather to Brown’s cap as she would bring another fantasy tale to life on the screen. The movie also has a stellar cast including Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Angela Bassett, and Robin Wright.

What’s The SAG-AFTRA Strike About?
The SAG-AFTRA strike officially concluded in November after 118 days. Marking the longest SAG-AFTRA strike in history, the American actors’ union protested from July 14, 2023, till November 9, 2023, over a labor dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).
Amid the strikes, several projects were delayed. ‘Damsel‘ was one of them. Netflix had therefore adjusted its previously decided release schedule and planned to release ‘Damsel’ in early 2024.
Other than ‘Damsel‘, 2024 will come as a busy year for Millie Bobby Brown as she is slated to start filming ‘Stranger Things‘ Season 5. She is also expected to promote another Netflix film, ‘The Electric State‘, along with co-star Chris Pratt. The movie is directed by the Russo brothers and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
