After his stint with DC, Zack Snyder collaborated with Netflix to make one of the most magnificent intergalactic films of the year, titled ‘Rebel Moon’. The film will be released in two parts, and the first part will be released in December 2023. It is based in the outer galaxy, where a peaceful colony gets invaded by some of the tyrannical forces.
Zack Snyder has mounted such a magnum opus project, getting inspired by the ‘Star Wars’ series. However, many other films and sci-fi projects have inspired ‘Rebel Moon’. Currently, the cast of the film is on a press tour to promote the film. During one of the London press meetings, actor Ed Skrein said that the director wants part two to feel like Christopher Nolan’s war film ‘Dunkirk’.

Zack Snyder Wants ‘Rebel Moon’ Part Two To Be Mounted Like ‘Dunkirk’
Part one of Zack Snyder‘s space adventure sci-fi, ‘Rebel Moon’, is around the corner, and the director has made the wait for the second part worthwhile. Part one, titled ‘Rebel Moon—Part One: A Child of Fire’ will focus on Kora, a female warrior played by Sofia Boutella, who is tasked with forming a force to defeat the villainous Regent Belisarius played by Ed Skrein.
During an interview in London, Ed Skrein talked about what Zack Snyder envisions for part two of the film. Zack wants people to feel like they are watching Christopher Nolan’s war drama ‘Dunkirk’. Ed told GamesRadar+, “I remember Zack saying with the second movie that he wanted it to feel like Dunkirk. So it’s like, there’s a space at the beginning, and then it’s going off.”
Ed continued, “And it’s really, really going off. And, you know, Return of the King, Lord of the Rings vibes where it’s like, ‘Okay, we kind of know where they’re going.’ It’s like, ‘Alright, now let’s just sit back, eat loads of popcorn, and watch it all kickoff.’”

Is The Film Inspired By The Star Wars Series?
Zack Snyder has been envisioning the world of ‘Rebel Moon’ since 2012, when he pitched the idea for a trilogy in the ‘Star Wars’ universe. However, the director’s dream was trampled when Lucas Films was taken over by Disney during Bob Iger’s reign. Later, Zack collaborated with Deborah Snyder’s Stone Quarry and Netflix to create the world for ‘Rebel Moon’.
During an interview with Collider, Zack Snyder talked about whether there is any resemblance to ‘Star Wars’. He said, “I would say that it ends up being nearly 100% different than what I had intended. I mean, other than the basic concept of farmers – the bad guys come, they want the farmers’ food, the farmers say no, they’re going to come back, build an army, fight.”
Zack continued, “That was the basic idea, but what happened was when we split off from Star Wars, Debbie [Snyder] was like, “That’s the best news ever because now you’re not…” It’s literally what she said, that if you have a hard time with DC, this is going to be a million times worse.”
The ‘Justice League’ director wanted to create a series out of the story as he wanted to deep dive into each warrior that gets picked from each planet with one episode dedicated to one planet. However, after the idea did not get a platform at Lucas Films, Zack and his other collaborator, Eric Newman, decided to make it into a film. The director also admitted that the films are inspired by ‘Star Wars’ iconography.
