The character of Kamala Khan in ‘Ms. Marvel’ is that of a Marvel fan girl. The actress, Iman Vellani, who is bringing her to life, is not much different. She is a Marvel fan through and through. People often notice her watching Marvel movies on the set. Something very interesting happened when she was doing just that. Marvel boss Kevin Feige walked up to her and chastised her.
Vellani shares a unique relationship with Feige. When the two first met, the actress literally froze and just kept staring at him. She even handed Feige a letter that contained questions and it was four to five pages long. The star is not afraid to confront him and in many instances, she has revealed her true opinions about MCU movies. Vellani also mentioned in an interview that Feige is her third favorite in MCU. So, what happened between the two that made Feige mad?
Why Kevin Feige Got Angry At Iman Vellani?
Saagar Shaikh, who plays Kamala Khan’s brother in ‘Ms. Marvel’ narrated the whole incident to Marvel Entertainment. He explained that Feige got angry with Vellani as she was watching Elizabeth Olsen’s ‘Wanda Vision’ on her phone. He said “I’ll tell you a secret. Kevin Feige got mad at her for watching WandaVision on her phone. He’s like, ‘They’re not made for phones! Watch it on TV!’”
“She was on her iPad between takes. WandaVision had come out, and [while she was watching] she said ‘What?’ out loud, and she fell to the floor because she was so excited about what she had just seen. I don’t know what it was. I didn’t want to interrupt her viewing. But yeah, she’s very excited. She’s a fangirl”, he continued.
‘Ms. Marvel’ Head Writer Bisha K. Ali Says Iman “Has A Creative Mind”
Bisha K. Ali also said a few words about Vellani. She said, “The reality is, I think that was from day one, and that’s not really regarding just Marvel, but in general, she has a creative mind. She has that maturity. She wants to be in this industry regardless, and well done for us and lucky for us that she’s obsessed with Marvel and that she loves it so much.”
“I think all of that really comes through in what gives her the ability to play this role and just embody this role, but also what’s going to give her the ability to navigate the future within this character and within her wider universe. I really think she’s an artist. I don’t think it’s possible to expect an artist to come on board a project and not have a million ideas about it,” she concluded.
