Pop singer, Selena Gomez made her Saturday Night Live debut on May 14. She seemingly didn’t hold back and was very entertaining in her opening monologue. The actress even showed off her acting skills in a hilarious way when she did a spot-on impression of her Disney co-star, friend and fellow pop singer, Miley Cyrus.
Selena Gomez Goes Wild In Her SNL Debut
In her opening monologue, Gomez started by saying that she talked to her “oldest friends” for advice on hosting the iconic show. She started lowering her voice and tried to draw out her best Southern accent. Selena then impersonated Miley as the advice was given to her, “Just be yourself and have fun.” It was hilarious but the fun doesn’t stop here. She continued her act and said, “I was like, ‘Miley, is that just an excuse for me to do an impression of you on the show?’ and her response is, ‘Hell, yeah. I’m Miley Cyrus.’“

Her act covered almost every aspect of her life. From her professional decisions to her personal choices. She talked about working with legendary actor Steve Martin on Hulu’s Only Murderers in the Building. Surprisingly, Steve also made an appearance on the show.
Selena Is Looking For Love?
In the promo, Gomez talked about the reason for hosting SNL: “But one reason I’m really excited to host ‘SNL’ is because I’m single,”. She further continued, “And I’ve heard that ‘SNL’ is a great place to find romance. Emma Stone met her husband here. Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost. Pete [Davidson] and Machine Gun Kelly.”
She confessed that even though she’s looking for love, she isn’t looking forward to dating apps. “I just want to put it out in the universe that I’m manifesting love and I would like to say that I’m looking for my soulmate, but at this point, I will take anyone.” This leads to a hilarious bit where cast members shoot their shots at the host.
