‘Gilmore Girls‘ was undoubtedly one of the best shows on The CW when it aired from 2000 to 2007. Although the show ended with only seven seasons, audiences eagerly waited to see Rory and Lorelai Gilmore again. Finally, a reboot was released on Netflix.
The mini-series was released a long time ago on November 25, 2016, titled ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life‘. The response towards the series was also positive with an approval rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, a second season has not been confirmed so far. Let’s check what can happen as the final episode ended on a massive cliffhanger with Rory’s confession about being pregnant.

‘Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life’ Season 2 Possibility
One thing that must be noted is that ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ was a miniseries. It has been a rare instance where miniseries have been renewed for a second season but it has not happened for this show. While fans want their questions answered about whether Rory embraces motherhood, how she balances her career and how Lorelai reacts to their changing dynamics, for now, it has been confirmed that Netflix does not hold the rights to the series, and the original series is licensed to the streaming platform until 2026.
A second season could be possible if the rights are reverted back to Warner Brothers Television and an exclusive new season can be produced for HBO Max. We would certainly like to see the fast-talking mother-daughter duo back. Even Emily Gilmore playing great-grandmother would be an interesting watch.
The good news is that the positive response to ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life‘ can work as another reason for Season 2. But we should not expect anything to witness for a few more years.

‘Gilmore Girls’ Cast On The Reboot’s Second Season
Discussions regarding a second season were active in 2016 when the show was released on Netflix. But Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel clearly stated at the time a second season would never happen. However, in an interview with Vanity Fair, Amy Sherman-Palladino said that a new season is still a possibility.
Kelly Bishop said in 2021 that a second season is impossible because they have already done something similar with additional episodes. She added at the time that a majority of the cast members had taken up other projects and it would be difficult for them to come out of their busy schedules.
While speaking to New Beauty in 2022, Lauren said she was planning to meet Amy as soon as possible and would like to discuss the future of the series. She added that it was their responsibility to continue something that has been loved by the audience.
