Mark Cuban To Exit ‘Shark Tank’ After Season 16. Here’s Why

Mark Cuban, the charismatic billionaire businessman contestant on ‘Shark Tank‘, has revealed that he would be dropping out of the show while talking on ‘All the Smoke’ podcast. The 65-year-old said that his time on the ABC series will be over after season 16 of the show.

This is our 15th year, and next year, our 16th year, is gonna be my last year,” he said on the show. Cuban first entered the show as a guest contestant in season 2 of the show, and then went on to become a full-time contestant by season 3.

Cuban asserted that it’s time to step back from the series, though the network has not yet confirmed his departure. He said he is letting his family take precedence over the show, and spending time with his daughters Alyssa and Alexis, and son Jake, is above all obligations for him.

My daughter’s in college now … when they were all in high school, all their schedules aligned. And so it was really easy to do the show,” he said. “But now, you know, family first, always. And so I wanted to try to make sure I spent as much time with my daughter as I can, and my family as I can.”

Cuban however clarified that he holds ‘Shark Tank‘ in high regard and always will, irrespective of whether or not he remains part of the show. “I love it because it sends the message the American dream is alive and well,” he said. Though he did not

Looking back at his Shark Tank journey, Cuban contended that there have been numerous successful pitches by several people on the show. “The harder they have to try to sell, the worse the deal,” he remarked.

Tell me about your business, tell me why you are going to be successful. Tell me what’s different about it. Tell me how you stand out,” he said while explaining his approach towards deciding how he decides what is a good pitch.

Cuban remarked he sees Shark Tank as a platform that inspires future entrepreneurs. “We’ve trained multiple generations of entrepreneurs that if somebody can come from Iowa or Sacramento or wherever, and show up on the carpet of Shark Tank and show their business and get a deal, it’s going to inspire generations of kids,” he said.

A part of the show for a long time, Cuban has once before hinted at leaving Shark Tank. He told People last year that he was committed to coming back for season 15 next year. “But after that, you know, I don’t know yet,” he had said, hinting that season 15 may see the last of his appearance on the show.
