    Christopher Nolan Had Originally Planned To Bring Back Heath Ledger’s Joker For One Final Act In ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

    Heath Ledger became the epitome of the Clown Prince Of Crime. Succeeding him, many actors played the role, but none of them could replace Heath Ledger’s prolific and dynamic acting. Not only fans, but Ledgers also stunned Christopher Nolan, leaving him speechless.

    Heath Ledger appeared as Joker in 2008’s ‘The Dark Knight’ alongside Christian Bale’s Batman. Christopher Nolan was so amazed at Ledger’s performance that he desired to bring back Joker in the sequel of ‘The Dark Knight’.

    Christopher Nolan Planned To Bring Back Heath Ledger’s Joker

    The filmmaker received severe backlash when Christopher Nolan hired Heath Ledger to play Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’. Despite all the negativity, Nolan stood up along with his choice. The role impacted the audience in a way that Heath Ledger also won the Oscar posthumously for his performance which remains the ideal of villain madness.

    According to MovieWeb, Christopher Nolan planned to bring back his character for the final scene in the 2012 sequel ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Nolan desired to feature The Joker’s trial in Gotham City, alongside Michael Jai White’s Gambol in the third part of ‘The Dark Knight’. Unfortunately, due to Ledger’s untimely demise before the release of ‘The Dark Knight’, the plan was scrapped.

    In January 2008, Heath Ledger passed away, which forced Christopher Nolan to improvise a few elements in ‘The Dark Knight’ sequel. The Joker’s comeback was replaced with White Gambol’s death.

    The ‘Oppenheimer’ director did not recast another actor for the role of The Joker, solely out of respect for Heath Ledger and his prolific performance as the Clown Prince of Crime. However, after the trilogy of ‘The Dark Knight’, Christopher Nolan swore off being a part of any superhero film.
