Bella Hadid’s Reasons For Ditching Her Natural Blonde Hair
Considering that both her mother Yolanda, and sister Gigi, have got blonde hair, it is not surprising that Bella too has natural blonde hair. However, as Bella entered the modeling industry, she switched to brunette hair. Talking with Allure, she shared that one of the major reasons was that she didn’t want to be a copy image of her elder sister, Gigi Hadid. She said, “I don’t want to be put in any box—or seen as a carbon copy of her sister.”
Bella also remarked that she has a distinct and darker personality than her sister, and her brunette hair complements that. “I just have a darker personality. And my sister being blonde and me being brunette, it’s good separation,” she revealed.
The model further said how she sometimes feels like going back to blondes, “I put a blonde wig on and think it would be fun to go back, but I’m happy with my hair. Blondes are so angelic. My sister can get away with anything.” In another interview with Glamour in 2016, she also commented that she likes the brown hair on her.
Gigi is identified by her blonde hair, and the media has always tried to portray siblings or family members pitted against each other for similarities, especially if it’s a vulnerable professional field, like modeling.

Bella Hadid Was Bullied For Her Looks
The 25-year-old model has previously talked about the many comparisons she has had been put against Gigi. She herself was insecure about her “big hips” because of Gigi’s athletic body. “I love them now, but I was always self-conscious of my hips – whereas my sister had a six-pack and was very athletic,” she said.
Bella also added how she got bullied because of her features. “And I thought I had a weird face. I remember very distinctively getting bullied because of my features,” Bella shared. Since the two are in the same professional career, the differences and similarities in their personalities are often looked upon closely. Bella also said, “You know, my sister’s very bubbly and very out there and I was always very reserved.”
