Last month, SNL announced that Benedict Cumberbatch will take over the SNL stage to promote his film Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Benedict took over Stage 8H after six years of hiatus. Arcade Fire accompanied Cumberbatch as the ‘musical guest’ on today’s episode. The film was released globally and garnered a lot of attention from the fans. It was no surprise that Marvel pulled off a Multiverse stunt by including Scarlet Witch aka Elizabeth Olsen in one of the pre-recorded skits.
Elizabeth Olsen Appeared During Chloe Fineman’s “The Understudy” Skits
Along with the host duties, Doctor Strange 2 star also participated in the SNL Skits. During the closing skit, the celebrity impersonator Chloe Fineman presented a hypothetical situation where she can replace any Marvel star if they are unavailable for any unforeseen reason. Benedict Cumberbatch too participated in the skit.
Fineman donned Wanda Maximoff’s costume to trick the actor, who is the other sorcerer, along with Olsen, casting her as Scarlet Witch. She was successful in tricking Benedict and pitched her name for casting her in the next installment of the film.

To everyone’s surprise, the real Scarlet Witch( Elizabeth Olsen) made an appearance along with Fineman, and both started insisting that each of them is Elizabeth Olsen. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness has some references from the Emmy nominated series WandaVision. In the series, Elizabeth Olsen plays the titular role of Wanda Maximioff as she is seen in the film.
The relationship between Wanda and Dr. Strange grows sour due to her complex familial situation. In a recent red carpet interview for the premiere of the film, Olsen shared her experience of playing the character. She said, Getting to do ‘Wandavision’ and then coming into this film, my priority was, how do we continue the thread, but how do we also make it different?”
Elizabeth added, “How is there an evolution, how can we keep it exciting for the fans? And how can we ground her and show them something they haven’t seen yet? And I’m looking forward to the fan response after this film. I think everyone’s in for a ride.”
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is currently running in theaters.
