Television Broadcasting Company, CW has ordered three series to be aired via their network. The list includes a prequel to Supernatural, “The Winchesters,” “Gotham Nights,” and the Walker prequel “Walker: Independence.” Walker has completed the filming of season two and is set to be renewed for season three. Amidst this, the parent broadcasting company has announced the prequel to the series with the Arrows actress Katherine McNamara.
Walker: Independence Will Be A Period Western Drama
The CW’s Walker was already a reprised Western drama Walker, Texas Ranger from the 1990s starring Chuck Norris. Walker which premiered in January 2021 followed the adventures of Cordell Walker, a Texas Ranger who returns to his abode to mend things with his family and to re-establish connections. Along with it, he has to solve crimes. Gilmore Girls star Jared Padalecki headlined the series. Anna Fricke took the arduous job of rebooting the series. Anna is a writer and producer on Tom Cruise’s Minority Report, a crime-drama book-to-film adaptation of Wayward Pines, and others.
The prequel will follow the narrative of a Bostonian woman, Katherine McNamara’s Abby Walker, who is out for vengeance after her husband’s murder in the American West. The prequel will see the return of Matt Barr’s Hoyt Rawlins. Hoyt played by Barr had a small role in the first season of the show, but will be presumably returning as the ancestor.
In the story, Hoyt Rawlins will cross paths with Abby. In their quest for revenge, they end up in the town of Independence in Texas. The protagonists come across residents resisting their troubled pasts and moving to achieve their dreams. The show is co-written by Seamus Fahey with Anna Fricke. They are helming the project as Executive Producers. The former actor Jared Padalecki will also be an Executive Producer on the show. CBS Studios is producing the show under the banner of Pursue by a Bear.
