The prequel of the famous ‘Game of Thrones’ titled ‘House of the Dragon’ streaming on HBO has emerged as a strong contender for the original hit. With the setting two centuries before the events of the parent show the prequel discusses the Targaryen civil war also called the ‘Dance of the Dragon.’
This conflict is based on the story of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen who finds herself in the middle of a bloody struggle to control the Iron Throne. However, the further fate of Rhaenyra is still unknown to the series watchers.

The Story Of Rhaenyra Targaryen
Rhaenyra Targaryen might have stayed in the Red Keep her whole life but she is far from helpless. She is one of the Leeds, a dragon rider, and a skillful manipulative individual who wants to be the first queen regnant of the seven kingdoms. However, she has a contender for the throne: Aegon Targaryen.
This leads to the stage of violence with a clear path that the war will be bloody. The journey of Rhaenyra to get on the throne is filled with suffering and treachery. Her father, King Viserys, chose her as the successor to the Iron Throne in the beginning but the male-led court wasn’t too happy.
One thing’s for certain, Rhaenyra Targaryen’s story in ‘House of the Dragon’ is a captivating one. Additionally, whether she emerges as a tragic heroine or a power-hungry ruler consumed by ambition, viewers will undoubtedly be glued to their screens.

How ‘House Of The Dragon’ Will Tackle Rhaenyra’s Death?
The book ‘Fire & Blood’ by George R. R. Martin is the show’s basis for ‘House of the Dragon.’ Here Rhaenyra’s death could be seen in the making. Moreover, the Dance of the Dragons is already a bloody event in itself with dragonfire, betrayals, and losses. Rhaenyra undergoes a lot of personal losses whether it be her son or her father.
Several years later she is unable to hold King’s Landing, the center of the kingdom, for herself during the war. Being chased by the remaining forces she escapes on her dragon Syrax and finds shelter with the remaining forces. However, her problems do not finish here. Rhaenyra, in an anticlimax, dies at the hands of Aegon’s dragon Sunfyre.
Additionally, the details surrounding Rhaenyra’s death are gruesome. Sunfyre (Aegon’s dragon), attacks Rhaenyra and Syrax during a desperate escape attempt. Moreover, her demise is a bitter pill to swallow for many fans. It’s a harsh end for a complex character. Whether the show will stay true to this portrayal remains to be seen.
