Bill Gates Finally Addresses Elon Musk Taking Over Twitter And Jeffrey Epstein Controversy

The American business magnate, Bill Gates was infamous during the surge of the pandemic. Due to his philanthropic work toward vaccine development, there was suspicion among people. He was one of the advocates of vaccines, so people formulated conspiracy theories that he might have put microchips in people’s bodies. Back in 2015, the co-founder of Microsoft predicted an incoming pandemic in his Ted Talk. He busted the conspiracy theories and talked about his latest book How To Prevent The Next Pandemic on TODAY Programme.

In more recent news, Bill Gates and Elon Musk had a visible spat on Twitter after the latter’s purchase of the platform. Elon took some hits on Microsoft founder for shorting Tesla. Among other things Gates also opened up about his controversial meeting with Jeffery Epstein.

In the interview with Savannah, Bill was asked to share his opinion on Musk’s Twitter acquisition. Bill said, “The digital realm has facilitated you know kind of interesting, but wrong ideas spreading very quickly, and we need to innovate so the digital realm is more of a positive thing of getting the truth out and people are seeing, ‘hey, it’s false.’ “

On being asked if he is worried about Elon Musk, The philanthropist responded, “Well, Elon, you wouldn’t underestimate Elon. What he did with Tesla is amazing, helping with climate change, and what he did with SpaceX… you know will this time he make the improvement?… should there be laws that strike a better balance of free speech vs. conspiracy theories confusing people. Elon thinks he can improve Twitter, well, I don’t know specifically what he will do well, but there’s an opportunity and we need innovation in that space.”

The interview took a turn from professional life to personal life. Savannah asked about the transition of Gates’ life since the divorce one year ago and how he is coming to terms with that. Bill said, “Divorce is definitely a sad thing… I have responsibility for causing a lot of pain to my family um… it was a tough year. I feel good that uh… all of us are moving forward now. My oldest got married, uh… Melinda and I are continuing the work together. It was sad and tragic, but we are moving together.

Jeffrey Epstein was a notorious name in the financial realm. He was convicted as a sex offender. Melinda, in an interview, revealed that Jeffrey Epstein was “one of the strains” in the relationship. The interviewer asked for a comment on his relationship with Epstein and how it affected their relationship. Bill Gates said, “I certainly made a huge mistake not only meeting him in the first place, but I met him a number of times. I had a goal of raising money for global health. I didn’t realize that meeting with him almost downplayed the incredibly awful things he did.

He continued, “I learnt more about that over time, but I’d add that to the list of big mistakes including you know where Melinda’s advice was sound and I should have followed sooner than I did.” She asked him whether he did not see anything that he thought didn’t feel right after Melinda’s visceral reaction after she met him for the first time. Gates answered, “No, he was a bad person and… I had a reason that I thought that these meetings would lead to something good, but I shouldn’t have done them.” Bill admitted that Melinda and he is working together to build the Gates Foundation together despite the divorce.
