“No Disrespect”: Justin Timberlake Performs ‘Cry Me A River’ For The First Time Since Britney Spears’ Confessions In ‘The Woman In Me’

Britney Spears has been living a joyous and peaceful life since the conservatorship imposed on her father, Jamie Spears, ended in 2021. However, for the longest time, Britney’s narrative has been controlled by the media, and they have spun negative stories about the songstress. However, in 2022, Spears published her memoir ‘The Woman In Me’, where she took control of her narrative and made some bombshell confessions.

In ‘The Woman In Me’, Britney Spears opened up a lot about her personal life and narrated stories that were never told before. Some of them were related to her ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake. In the book, she made the shocking confession that she had a baby with Timberlake, which he insisted she abort. Britney also claimed that the singer cheated on her and portrayed that she cheated on him in the song ‘Cry Me A River’. After the controversy, Justin sang the song at an event in Las Vegas.

Recently, Justin Timberlake made a rare appearance, performing a surprise concert at the Fontainebleau’s BleauLive Theater in Las Vegas.

Many A-listers, like Kim Kardashian, Keith Urban, Kendall Jenner, Tom Brady, and others, were present during the night. This was Timberlake’s second appearance since Britney Spears launched an attack on him in her book ‘The Woman In Me’.

During the surprise concert, Justin Timberlake performed various numbers like ‘SexyBack’, ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’, and ‘Lovely Day’ by Bill Withers.

However, he also included his 2002 hit ‘Cry Me A River’ from his debut solo album titled ‘Justified’. At that time, the song was packaged as an angst-ridden ballad after Britney and he parted ways. Before singing the song, he gave a disclaimer in Las Vegas, saying, “No disrespect.” Jessica Biel, his wife, was seen enjoying the song.

Britney Spears has finally told her side of the story in her recent memoir, ‘The Woman In Me’. Before the release of the memoir, she released an excerpt that revealed that the singer bore a baby with Timberlake, but the former NSYNC member asked her to abort the child. It sparked speculation that the 2003 video song for ‘Everytime’ was based on the abortion she went through.

Britney Spears also revealed that Justin Timberlake broke up with her over a text when she was shooting for a music video. He wrote, “It’s over!!!” In the memoir, she wrote that she had to go back and dance after reading the text. Spears wrote, “For as much as Justin hurt me, there was a huge foundation of love and when he left me, I was devastated. When I say devastated, I mean I could barely speak for months.”

In an excerpt released by Entertainment Tonight, Britney Spears wrote, “The truth: I was comatose in Louisiana, and he was happily running around Hollywood. … The thought of my betraying him gave [his] album more angst, gave it a purpose: shit-talking an unfaithful woman … Everyone felt very sorry for him. And it shamed me.”
