“Uh, Geez, I’m Making A Fool Of Myself”: “Drunk” Pedro Pascal Gives An Emotional Acceptance Speech At SAG Awards

The awards season has put Pedro Pascal in some considerable limelight this year. Known for his roles in ‘The Mandalorian‘ and ‘Narcos’, the actor is now making waves for his work in ‘The Last of Us’. Pascal has been a consistent nomination this awards season and has also bagged several awards for his work.

He is yet again making waves now at the 2024 SAG Awards by admitting he was “drunk” while accepting his award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series. Despite an evidently drunken acceptance speech, Pedro Pascal received applause and cheers as he left the stage after receiving the award.

The 2024 SAG Awards concluded in all glory on Sunday with a star-studded audience and glamorous performances. One among the many stars that took a trophy home was Pedro Pascal who won the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series.

It is his acceptance speech that brought a twist to the show. “This is wrong, for a number of reasons. Umm, I’m a little drunk. I could get drunk,” he said on stage while accepting the award for his role in ‘The Last of Us’.

Struggling to maintain composure, Pascal took a few seconds before he emotionally thanked the show’s streaming network, HBO. “Uh, geez Louise, I’m making a fool of myself. But thank you so much for this!” he said.

Pedro Pascal called the award an “incredible f–king honor”, and then admitted he couldn’t recall the names of his fellow nominees who he would like to thank. “I could not remember any of your names right now,” he said, drawing a wave of laughter from the audience.

He then turned emotional, thanking his family who “may be watching“, as he briefly paused when his voice cracked. “I’m going to have a panic attack, and I’m going to leave,” he said before walking off the stage amid the crowd applause.

Dressed was dressed in his signature style—a white flowy button-down, black slacks, and black shoes. In conversation with fashion designer Tan France backstage, Pascal confessed to not remembering his speech and joked about checking it out on YouTube later.

I don’t remember what I said,” Pascal admitted. “I just was very surprised, so let’s YouTube it later.”

This isn’t the first time Pascal’s speeches have grabbed headlines. He had blamed Kieran Culkin for a shoulder injury at the 2024 Emmys, sparking a lighthearted feud between them. “I think tonight is the perfect time to tell everyone that Kieran Culkin beat the s–t out of me,” he said last month.
