The Wall Street Journal has released a report revealing information about Elon Musk’s new venture. He is building a town spread over thousands of acres and pastures in Austin, Texas.

According to many documents and paperwork, Musk is building a town 35 miles away from Austin in Bastrop County. The reason he is setting up the town on the outskirts of Austin is to dodge the regulations. The new site for the town is near SpaceX and The Boring and Company.

The town is near the Colorado River. As per the sources, Elon Musk wants the employees at Tesla, the tunneling venture The Boring Co., and SpaceX to have affordable housing. There are already 110 homes planned as per the blueprint for the Boring Company under “Project Amazing”. The town has a pool, gym, and clubhouse among other facilities. The Tesla owner was in talks with Kanye West and Grimes to create a blueprint for the town.

Elon Musk has been propagating the idea to shift his businesses from California to Texas due to “overregulation, overlitigation, and overtaxation.” The reason why Elon Musk had his operations in Texas is to evade federal taxation. Musk and other affiliated ventures have bought 3,500 acres of land. On this land, he is building various operational facilities for SpaceX, Boring Company, and Tesla.

The Boring Company’s CEO Steve Davis has around 200 acres of land in the area. The company has already asked the employees to apply for residential facilities with $800 rent per month for two or three-bedroom houses. As per Adena Lewis, County’s economic and tourism development, Elon Musk is building the town so as “to work with folks on a direct level, and not having a ton of red tape.”

Adena Lewis, when asked about the time for the completion of the project, said that she is not aware of it. She said, “They’re very respectful of us, but they’re in a hurry.” Chap Ambrose, a programmer, is a resident of the area. He has been seeking the Boring Company for information.

Chap is also asking the County for information about the company’s research on the effects of tunneling on the water sources. Ambrose said that m the project is progressing at a faster pace.

David Burrow, a farmer, and restaurant owner in the area have expressed concerns over transparency. Boring has made an application to the state environmental body to allow them to discharge 140,000 gallons of industrial waste into the Colorado River.

Burrow is concerned that this will affect the wells and water quality of the river. He said, “I would like to know what is actually being sprayed, what they’re actually building, and who is going to hold them accountable.” Texas Senator Sarah Eckhardt wants to delve deeper into the permit for waste disposal. She wants to have a public hearing on the matter.
