On Friday, David Letterman took the stage for a ‘Netflix Is a Joke’ Festival event. Here he was seen replying to Dave Chappelle‘s recent attack at the Hollywood Bowl. Letterman headlined a live comedy event from Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre. The event included Rosebud Baker, Phil Wang, and Sam Morril.The legendary CBS late-night host welcomed the audience for coming. After that he made an apparent reference to Chappelle being attacked at a different Netflix Is a Joke event on Tuesday night. Netflix posted footage of Letterman’s program on social media on Saturday. The video is titled, “David Letterman on the Dave Chappelle Incident“. This comes despite the fact that the film did not contain him addressing Chappelle by name.

In the footage, the 75-year-old actor can be seen fixing his glasses before being frightened and sprinting to the stage’s side. After letting go of his nervousness, David gets normal and makes a funny remark. He jokes that he was nervous because he saw someone coming up on the stage.
David then pretended to be listening to someone in the audience and said is it just a waiter. He then apologizes and shares that he is just being prepared. After that, he hints at the issue that had taken place recently. David further adds that for all those who are there to see his show and want to beat him. He will be available in the lobby at the end of the show. After that Letterman pretends to show hands as if asking how many of them are already wanting to hit him.

What Exactly Happened With Dave Chappelle?
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Chappelle was performing when a guy attacked him on stage. The guy threw him to the ground and brandished an imitation weapon at him. Isaiah Lee, the suspect, was later arrested on accusation of assault with a dangerous weapon.
The L.A. City Attorney’s Office filed four misdemeanor charges against Lee. This comes after the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office declines to pursue felony charges against him on Thursday. Chappelle addressed the issue during a hidden act at the Comedy Store late Thursday. This comes a day after his agent vowed the star wouldn’t let the attack “overshadow the magic” of his Hollywood Bowl gigs.
