Beyoncé and Jay-Z have acquired the status of a powerful and royal couple in Hollywood. They have been married for more than a decade and have been together for longer. The couple has three children – Blue Ivy, twins Rumi and Sir. Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s collaborations have given us many hits like ‘Crazy in Love,’ and ‘Everything Is Love’.
Beyoncé has expressed her love and admiration for her husband many times publicly. She revealed in an episode of Oprah Winfrey‘s show, “He has helped me on so many levels … just to have someone that you just like is so important. And someone that is honest.” However, in April 2016, their perfect romance dwindled as speculations erupted over the indications of Jay-Z’s infidelity in Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ album. Let us dig in to find out more about this marital calamity.
The Truth Behind Jay-Z Cheating On Queen B
The visual album of ‘Lemonade’ by Beyoncé flowed in a sea of mysticism. The album’s name was even a buzz in the Beyhive. Many fans were trying to decode the meaning behind the title. Additionally, almost all of them were endeavoring to decode the personal implications that were hard to ignore in the album. It was clear that Jay-Z, who had a colorful past, cheated on Queen B and the buzz did not die down.
The drama began in May 2014 when B’s sister Solange attacked Jay-Z. It was rumored that she attacked him in the elevator as he had cheated on her dear sister. Although there were no statements regarding the rumors, Beyoncé did ask fans to put it all behind them as it’s normal to have issues within families.
After the elevator incident, the singer surprised the audience by dropping her ‘Lemonade’ album in 2016. Songs like ‘Hold Up‘ and ‘Sorry‘ made it seem like there were issues going on in their family. Fans were analyzing who was the reference for “Becky with the good hair”. After the album dropped, Rachel Roy posted a snap on Instagram and captioned it “Good Hair, don’t care”. This welcomed a lot of speculations that she might be the girl referenced as ‘Becky’ in the album.
Rachel Roy worked as an intern in the urban clothing line, Rocawear, founded by Jay-Z and Damon Dash. Later, Rachel married Damon in 1998 and then got divorced in 2009. Wendy Williams in her show said that both Damon and Jay-Z would switch their girlfriends often. She also added that Solange beat Jay-Z in the elevator at the Met Gala because she knew that Jay-Z had done something terrible to Beyoncé.

Why Did Beyoncé Forgive Jay-Z?
Jay-Z, after the ‘Lemonade‘ album incident, appeared in an interview in November 2017 with The New York Times Style Magazine in 2017 and admitted to infidelity. He said, “You have to survive. So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode what happens? You shut down all emotions.” He further added, “So even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can’t connect. In my case, like, it’s deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity.”
He also notified that Beyoncé’s album ‘Lemonade’ made him feel “very, very uncomfortable.” After all these rattles, she dropped her new album ‘Renaissance‘ in 2022. In the album, she again referenced the elevator incident and mystically warned Jay-Z to beware of her sister. She also added that it can be really hard to forgive someone whom the world is telling to let go. However, since he realized his mistake, she wanted to give him a chance.
This decision was purely based on the fact that they have a family together and family comes first before anything else. The lyric, “We’re flawed but we’re still perfect for each other,” explains how much Beyoncé has tried to overcome the infamous incident that shattered her life and yet she forgave Jay-Z for her family and love towards her husband.
