Why Did Taylor Swift And Jake Gyllenhaal Break Up?
In November 2021 Taylor Swift re-released her fourth studio album ‘RED‘ which was largely based on her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal and their subsequent breakup. The two dated back in 2010 after being introduced by Gwyneth Paltrow at a dinner she hosted. Swift and Gyllenhaal met and fell in love quickly and even made their relationship public. There was a time when the superstar couple was inseparable and their love was reflected in their paparazzi pictures.
However, they weren’t meant to last forever as the pair split up after just three months of being together. This shocked fans beyond no measure because it seemed like a fairytale romance from the outside. The real reason behind their breakup is not known to anyone but according to Huffington Post, he called it off because he was not comfortable with the amount of press they were getting. His discomfort with the paparazzi chasing them down was evident in the very public outburst he had where he lashed out in front of the media when the couple was still together and was on an outing.
Taylor, however, has a different story to tell. In her hit song ‘All Too Well’ which is inspired by her breakup with Jake she sings, “You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine and that made me want to die” hinting toward the possibility that the age difference between the two was the real reason behind their breakup as Jake was 29 and Taylor was 21 when they first started seeing each other. In fact, Jake’s subsequent girlfriends have all been significantly younger than him and his current girlfriend Jeanne Cadieu is eighteen years younger than him.

Why Is Taylor Swift Re-Recording Her Albums?
Taylor Swift is re-recording her first six studio albums released between 2006 and 2017 in an attempt to own their masters. Owing the masters basically means she can control the way the new versions of the songs are used like granting permission for the music to appear in television series. The reason why she doesn’t own her masters is that she signed a record deal with Big Machine Records at the age of 15 and handed the ownership of her masters to the record label. In 2019, Taylor made an attempt to buy her masters from the label and she was offered a deal where she could earn back one album for every new album, she turned in which Swift refused to accept.
The contract she signed with Big Machine Record gave her the right to re-record her older songs starting in November 2020. Taylor writes her own songs and also owns the publishing rights to them which allows her to cover the songs without having to touch the masters. Upon being asked why she had taken on this herculean task of re-recording all her studio albums along with releasing ‘vault tracks’ Swift told Billboard, “I do want it to be in movies, I do want it to be in commercials. But I only want that if I own it.”
