Prince William Attends BAFTA Awards Without Kate Middleton. Here’s Why

After reports of King Charles’ diagnosis hit the public, the Royal Family has been busy with official affairs and the King’s health. As a surprise appearance, however, Prince William attended the 77th British Academy Film Awards to be present while the best films of 2023 were honored.

William, however, arrived alone, although many were expecting to see another glitzy appearance made by the Princess of Wales. Here’s why Kate Middleton skipped the BAFTA Awards.

Arriving at the Royal Festival Hall in London in style with a velvet blue jacket, Prince William made a solo entrance without a date for the night. The Prince, who has been a president of BAFTA since 2010 walked the red carpet and met various personalities.

William watched the ceremony and then proceeded to meet the five nominees of the EE Rising Star Award- Phoebe Dynevor, Ayo Edebiri, Jacob Elordi, Mia McKenna-Bruce, and Sophie Wilde. The award later went to McKenna-Bruce.

As the Prince walked around and got photographed in his suave suit, many questioned why he didn’t bring his Princess Kate. Last year the couple attended the award show together and were photographed having a great time. So why did Kate Middleton skip the BAFTA Awards this year?

Due to health concerns, the Princess of Wales didn’t step out to accompany her husband to the award show.

Following her scheduled abdominal surgery, Kate is still on the mend and will most likely not resume any of her royal activities until after.  A royal insider reassured that “the princess is in good spirits.”

She spent two weeks at a hospital after an undisclosed operation but is now enjoying a half-term vacation at Sandringham, which is 127 miles from Windsor, with Prince William, 41, and their three children, George, 10, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, 5.

Though citizens are getting concerned about her health, a friend of hers reaffirmed that the Princess is doing well. “Catherine is recovering well” they said, before adding, “she was looking forward to a change of scene and will be able to take it easy in Norfolk while the children let off steam with William.
