    Chronological Order To Watch All ‘Planet Of The Apes’ film

    Planet of The Apes is undoubtedly one of the greatest science fiction film series ever. The franchise has been rebooted as well. Interestingly the whole thing is based on French author Pierre Boulle’s 1963 novel. ‘Planet Of The Apes’ has dominated the entertainment world all throughout the 70s and the 80s. 

    The imaginative narrative of a conflict between humans and intelligent humanoid apes also deals with issues of racism, animal cruelty, and the Cold War. Undoubtedly it is one of the greatest sci-fi franchises ever made. You can also check out Tim Burton’s remake of the franchise. So today we will talk about the correct sequence you can watch it in.

    1. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (2011)

    The reboot of the original film series is actually a prequel. And so you should start watching with this one. Motion capture technology and digital characters helped enhance the storyline further in 2011. Caesar, the chimpanzee, who is practically the lead in the film is a genetically enhanced chimp made more intelligent by a virus. After being imprisoned in a primate sanctuary, Caesar uses his ingenuity to launch an uprising. And thus begins the conflict.

    2. Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (2014)

    The second film’s storyline is set 10 years after the first one. While the human population has dwindled because of the Simian Flu, the intelligent apes have set up a colony near San Francisco under Caesar’s leadership. However, Caesar struggles to maintain peace as his ape community is drawn into violent clashes with nearby human survivors. 

    3. War For The Planet Of The Apes (2017)

    If you’re done watching the first two films, ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ should be your next watch. Tensions did run high among the apes and humans in the second film already. And so in the third one, they have come to armed conflict. Caesar and his followers track down the mysterious Colonel, a human paramilitary leader, who threatens their existence and also looks for a new home. 

    4. Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes (2024)

    The next on your list is the latest film in the franchise that was released on May 8, 2024. The new movie’s storyline takes place 300 years after the previous. At this point human civilization is lost to a primitive archival state and apes have taken over. When ape king Proximus Caesar, armed with weapons forged from lost human technologies, enslaves other clans by perverting Caesar’s teachings, chimpanzee hunter Noa intervenes. Noa and Mae embark on a journey to determine the planet’s future. 

    5. Planet Of The Apes (1968)

    The original film in the series comes fifth in the chronology. We can assume that the planet that adrift astronaut George Taylor landed on is this post-apocalyptic earth with apes that have evolved into creatures with human-like intelligence and speech. Humans have become mute creatures wearing animal skins dominated by apes. 

    6. Beneath The Planet Of The Apes (1970)

    Following the original movie, in this one, another crew of astronauts landed on the ape-ruled planet in search of Taylor. Brent is the only survivor of the crew who notices he is in the year 3955. Brent then discovers a hidden population of telepathic humans who worship a nuclear bomb. He then runs into Taylor and must survive in the insane post-apocalyptic world while also preventing everything from being destroyed by the doomsday bomb. 

    7. Escape From The Planet Of The Apes (1971)

    After the destruction of the post-apocalyptic earth, chimpanzees Cornelius, Zira, and Dr. Milo escape on Taylor’s spaceship. They are sent through a time warp and lands in 1973 Earth in the United States. Upon landing, they are treated as celebrities but soon the government turns on them. It is discovered that Zira is pregnant and thus they must fight against all odds to survive in this new place. 

    8. Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes (1972)

    The next film focuses on Caesar, Zira, and Cornelius’ son. In a world where apes are being treated as slaves, Caesar is raised by Armando. Caesar is at a big risk of being killed if he is discovered as the missing child. He then starts the uprising by secretly training the other apes in combat. 

    9. Battle For The Planet Of The Apes (1973)

    The sequel to the previous film is told as a flashback to the early 21st century. It follows the chimpanzee Caesar years after the start of a global nuclear war has destroyed human civilization. Caesar tries hard to maintain peace between the apes and the remaining humans. While Kolp comes back planning to attack Ape City, an internal uprising also threatens the peace.
