“I Hope It’s Not The Last Time”: Ewan McGregor Opens Up About The Future Of ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

Ewan McGregor’s return as the legendary Jedi Knight in Obi-Wan Kenobi has blown the minds of millions of fans. The six episodes long series has only one more episode left to wrap up this season. The Star War fans are already been wondering if the masterpiece will return for a second season.

In the same context, Ewan McGregor who played the lead role of Jedi Master in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ has expressed that he is no exception in this regard. He shared that he would love to reprise his role in a second season of the show. According to Kenobi writer and executive producer Joby Harold, there is no confirmation about the second season from Disney.

Will Obi-Wan Kenobi Return For A Second Season?

The Star Wars prequel trilogy that was released in 1995 did not meet the expectation of critics at that time. But gradually over time, the prequel trilogy has achieved cult classic status. McGregor expressed his heartfelt emotions about the prequel trilogy and how it affected his career.

He said, “It took years to realize that there was an audience out there who really loved them. The sort of sound wave that came out after the films were released wasn’t very positive, because back then there wasn’t social media. And then we were just hearing the critics. And they decided not to like them.”

He continued, “But then slowly, you start meeting these people who were kids, when we made those films, who are now young adults, and you realise that for them are our Star Wars films were their Star Wars films. And that’s really nice. It’s nice to have that relationship with them now.”

Ewan McGregor is nostalgic after having a long journey through the story that is ending with ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’. He openly said that he wants a second season for ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ and he can’t wait to be a part of it.

“It’s true, it was a long journey to get here. It goes back to finishing Episode III, really, and the journey from there. It was interesting that it was it became more and more something that I wanted to do, the longer I got away from actually finishing Episode III,” said McGregor.

The fans who were getting really upset with the episodes of season 1 of ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ coming to an end, gained their enthusiasm back with the rumor of the second season. They took to Twitter to show their mixed reactions when the director Dobra Chow talked about the possibility of another season of the Star Wars masterpiece.
