Over the years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has attracted a diverse cast of characters. The options for unexpected cast members are continuously growing. This is because the Marvel universe is expanding both on television and in movies as well. As a result, Marvel fans are always ecstatic when another major actor or actress signs into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The same is true for actor Jason Statham who has now joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Although still the confirmation about the role that Jason Statham would be portraying is left. There are a few speculations about the character Jason can portray. And one of them being that of Union Jack in particular.

Why Union Jack Is The Best Character For Jason Statham?
The best bet for Statham’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that of Union Jack. In the comics, there have been various characters with that name. However, the Union Jack has long been shown as a combination between Batman and James Bond. Union Jack is a non-superpowered British spy. Union Jack first joined the Crown’s service during World War I.
The character has previously not made an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given that that version of the character is currently in his 40s, Jason could easily fit into Marvel as Union Jack. Joseph Chapman is the name of the current comic book version of Union Jack. Unlike his aristocratic forefathers, Chapman comes from a working-class family. Further, he possesses martial arts talents that would perfectly complement Statham’s on-screen persona.

Is There A Possibility Of Having A Completely New Role For Jason?
It will be interesting to watch how Jason Statham is introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s possible that he’ll be playing a completely different role. Or that he’ll be a government liaison rather than a superhero, given his popularity in the ‘Fast and Furious‘ movies.
There is also a possibility of him portraying the role of the villain. Later after it was commercially and narratively advantageous the franchisee owners turned Jason into Dwayne Johnson’s friend. Regardless, the MCU will take a fresh and interesting direction for onboarding Statham into the universe. At last, Jason’s entrance into the universe can land him a big opportunity.
