Why Was Elizabeth Cursed With Repeated Reincarnation In Seven Deadly Sins?

Seven Deadly Sins‘ are the seven demons who haunt and protect the land of Britannia. They are named after the seven sins of hell, meaning demons themselves. Why Was Elizabeth Cursed?

Elizabeth Liones the current daughter of the King of Liones, is the sole reincarnation of the Supreme Deity’s daughter. Before the Holy War of Heaven and Hell began, the clans steered clear of each other, as they resulted in mass murder only when clashing. The Demon King’s successor and the leader of the Ten Commandments Meliodas fell in love with the Supreme Deity’s daughter.

Their love was unprecedented and taboo considering the involvement of enemy races. Even after knowing the consequences, they set off to search for a middle ground for both races to thrive together. As one can guess, no one was happy or supportive of their neutral idea. They set off to war, starting the great war known as The Holy War.

Neither Meliodas nor Elizabeth had the power to oppose their family. In the end, Elizabeth got cursed to have Repeated Reincarnation, while Meliodas was cursed as an immortal. Matters got worse as their curses reveal the ultimate form, causing the tragic star-crossed lovers to live a life of grief.

Elizabeth’s curse forced her to be reborn as a human each time she died, but things weren’t so simple. Each time she got reincarnated, she would forget all about Meliodas. Once she regains the memories of their past lives, she’ll die in three days, that too in front of Meliodas. Meliodas, unable to die had to stand still and look over as his beloved died 106 times in front of him.

Furthermore, even if Melodias wanted to stay away from her to protect her from regaining her memories, the curse stood in his way. Elizabeth would instinctively seek out Meliodas, fall in love with him, remember their past lives, and die in front of him. This was the cruel nature of the curse forcibly put on Elizabeth.

Not only that, each time Meliodas griefed over Elizabeth’s death, he loses his emotions one by one. These emotions will be held captive by the Demon Lord in purgatory. The Demon Lord thought of emotions as an inconvenience for the future successor. He wanted Meliodas to get rid of them as a demon only needs to triumph over another through sheer power.

The recent reincarnation of the Supreme God’s daughter, Elizabeth was the 107th reincarnation of her former angel self. Meliodas was hell-bent on finding a way to get rid of the curse once and for all. He didn’t want Elizabeth to die another time in front of him. In her search, Merlin helped him a lot. She discovered the original form of the curse allowing Melodias to fight his way through hell.

He started his war with the Demon King, killing the latter. Through this, the curse bounding both lovers was demolished. Later it was found that Merlin re-activated the curse, as part of her plan. The Seven Deadly Sins obliterated the Ten Commandments and the Demon Kings once again, putting an end to this awful cycle of reincarnation.
