“Netflix Exists Because of Me”: Kevin Spacey Trashes Netflix As ‘House Of Cards’ Character Frank Underwood In Christmas Video

Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey, who was accused of sexual assault in 2018, is a classic case that makes one ponder over the ‘separation of art from the artist’ argument. Though excellent at his job, Spacey’s vices don’t seem like they can be conveniently ignored by his fans.

But as charming an actor that he is – much like his character of Frank Underwood on the Netflix show ‘House of Cards‘ – Spacey carries on with his charisma. Every year since 2018, Spacey has released an annual Christmas video where he pretends to be President Frank Underwood and discusses the most pressing issues of the time. And he is back this year too!

With the US presidential election approaching, Kevin Spacey resurrected his annual Christmas video tradition with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. The duo delved into Netflix as well as the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

Carlson put forth an interesting observation in front of Spacey, noting that the Netflix intro sound, has the classic “boom boom” in it, which is typically associated with his character Frank Underwood on the show ‘House of Cards’.

Without leaving his character as Frank, Spacey took an apparent dig at Netflix as the streaming platform had severed ties with him after the allegations had surfaced in 2018. “So, it is bizarre they decided to publicly cut ties with me on allegations alone, allegations that have now been proven false,” Spacey said in the thick southern accent that his character Frank had.

Because I don’t think there’s any question. Netflix exists because of me. I put them on the map, and they tried to put me in the ground,” he added.

As the conversation progressed, the discussion veered toward the 2024 presidential election and candidates who have withdrawn. Staying true to Frank’s cheeky style, Spacey likened the process to “jumping in the jacuzzi with a boner“.

It’s a little bit like jumping in the jacuzzi with a boner,” Spacey told him. “You know it ain’t gonna last forever. So, I wasn’t surprised when Mike ‘A Little Too Pensive’ dropped out right away.”

Talking about the candidates who are still in the race, Spacey showed his support for “Vivek ‘Drain the Ramaswamy‘” and also commended Nikki Haley’s toughness.

She’s no doubt learned a thing or two from watching mebut I think in the end we need someone in the White House who’s not afraid like me. Not afraid to push our country, or a journalist, in the right direction, if it comes to that,” Frank Underwood remarked, referring to a crucial turn of events on ‘House of Cards‘.
